Altered Worlds is the creation of Ernest v.d. Merwe, Ph.D. Ernest's doctoral thesis examined how various forms of technology mediate human actions and perceptions, and how it ultimately influences, shapes and alters the world we live in. Altered Worlds emanated from this research, and in understanding how humans interact with space and place, Ernest is able to create immersive user experiences through various mediums and across platforms. A long-held fascination with the natural world, and our relationships with it, inspires much of Ernest’s design philosophy - hoping to shape and alter the world we live in for the better. Hailing all the way from the sub-tropical city of Durban, South Africa, Ernest now calls Vancouver, British Columbia home. With two decades of experience, and a couple of qualifications along the way, he has worked in both the private and public sectors. Ernest has a proven track record of bringing creative ideas to life for a broad set of clients, and as an educator he lectured and supervised at several universities helping to grow, shape, and inspire the next generation of designers.
